Exercise 1+2

#1
1. You're supposed to use your own opinions
2. You're writing is mostly for your instructor
3.It's ok to say things that your instructer might disgree with
4. You can use your own expriences and observations of evidence
5. The information shold come mostly from books

When writinga research paper you can add our opinions on something, but the purpose of the paper is to do research on the topic you have been given or chosen. Putting your opinion in the paper isn't necessarly something that you should do, but if your teacher likes you putting your opinion in the paper then do it.
I think a lot of people think that writing is for your teacher, but it's for who ever is reading the paper. Saying that writing is fo mostly your instructor makes a lot of sense. The teacher is going to read it if he/she assigned it, but they will most likely not be the only ones reading it.
I agree that you can say things that your instructor might disagree with. You should make sure that what you say is appropriate. You and your instructor aren't going to have the same views on everything, so thats not going to be a surprise to the instructor if you disagree.
I think it's fine to use your own experiences and observations as evidence depending on the situation. You probably shouldn't say it if you haven't had very much experience with the subject.
I don't think that your information should come from mostly books although most of the information probably will. You need to make sure you use a credable source.

      1. People are entitled to their own opinions, and no one opinion is better than another
I agree that people are entitled to their own opinion and no one opinion is better than another. The reason for this is because an opinion is not fact so it's not necessarly true. People can have a wrong opinion but that doesn't mean it's not as good as another. All opinions are equal.

#2
- "Meanwhile, Pigeon haters host websites like Pigeonsmakemesick.com and propose plans for ridding cities of the 'vermin' including the tactical use of tennis rackets and loaves of bread"
-"The venders are apparently unliscenced and the police routenly attempt to flush them out, but this is clealy a half-hearted campaign. Who can balme them? The venders are everywhere, lingering at the edge of crowds, a fraternity of friendly bandits clutching their neatly folded cardboard tables, each equipped with a convenient handle of rope and duct tape. Within seconds the officers' depart, the venders descend on the square again, once again unfolding their tables to which the merchandise magically adhered."
-I think he came to understand venders can be pests at times and that we can love them and hate them. He was trying to understand why the venders would vanish and come back. I would say that the central question was probably how are venders and pigeons similar? The main idea is that venders are similar to pigeons.
-After reading this I found that I can relate to what this essay is saying. I feel like my friends and I can be the pigeons in a way to others in public. Not like the venders trying to sell you things, but just by being loud and obnoxious to them. I can tell sometimes by the way that people look at us.

In class free writing

Reading and writing has been very important to me in my academics, but I do not think it has been very important in my personal or professional life. the writing that I do outside of class is mostly texting and facebook. These forms of writing are easier for me, becasue I do not worry about the structure of the writing is. Also I am not getting graded on this type of writing.
The most difficult part about academic writing would be writing the introduction and conclusion of papers. These to areas are the ones that I need to improve in.
I do not really read anything outside of school. If I read things its either things a sports magazine or off of the computer screen.
I feel like this class will require a lot of research and will help learn how to use the research as well as possible in the papers.
